As much as I hate saying goodbye to the colder weather, there's no denying that summer is slowly creeping in. On days when the heat is scorching, there's not much we can do other than cool down with a cold drink, or better yet, some ice cream! But I'm not talking about just any ice cream. I think the best way to beat the notorious summer heat in the Philippines is to cool down with some local ice cream which uses ingredients from the country's summer capital itself, Baguio.
Originally from Baguio, Nora's Homemade Frozen Delights serves up local ice cream and yogurt that uses fresh cow's milk from Baguio. While they have a wide range of mouth-watering flavors including Cookie Dough and Blueberry Cheesecake just to name a few, their best-sellers are the ones showcasing beloved delicacies from the North. Their Good Shepherd Ube Ice Cream, Alfajor Ice Cream, and Benguet Coffee Ice Cream are definitely must-tries not only because they're unique, but simply because they're so good.
Since tourists in Baguio were asking where they can get Nora's Homemade Frozen Delights in Metro Manila, they decided to open up a stall in 238 Banawe Center in Quezon City. Martin and I recently visited, and it was a no-brainer that we try the Good Shepherd Ube and Benguet Coffee Ice Creams. The ube ice cream tastes just like the Good Shepherd one and has the same nuttiness as the original. The Benguet Coffee was strong and bold, just the way how I like my coffee. All of their ice creams are also very thick and rich, which we can only attribute to it being homemade.
Now, you don't have to go all the way up to Baguio to cool down this summer or to get your hands on some of their delicacies. Just go to Banawe (Center, not where the Rice Terraces are), and chill with some artisanal ice cream from Baguio!
